What's the best way to calm your nerves before you compete?

Did you watch a lot of skating before you actually started?
I had never watched skating before. Once my mom told me to watch the tape of An Evening With Champions because her channel produces it and I just couldn't watch it. It was sooo boring for me!

What is your typical day like?
Well, I usually get up around 6:30, and I go to school. I am in school from around 7:15 to 12:45 each day. I go right from school to the rink, where I skate three sessions. The first one is from 1:20-2:20, then 2:30-3:30, and finally 3:40-4:40. I then go home, except for Tuesdays when I have a math tutor after skating. I do some homework, eat dinner, do some more homework, and go to bed.

Is it hard to be friends with your competitors?
Sometimes it is, but most of the time when you are at competitions you just think about your skating, and not your friends skating. When the competition is done, then I don't think that you think a lot about skating.

How much do you work with your coaches on picking music and putting your programs together?
Mostly I listen to music, and try to get an idea as to what I want to skate to. Then, if I find something that I really like, I'll show it to Mary or Deidre and see if they like it.

What are your favorite and least favorite jumps?
My favorite jump is the triple salchow, and I don't have a least favorite.

What is your goal for the 1999 Nationals?
My main goal is to skate two good programs.
